There is a weather warning from the Daily Express, which says
Britain will be hit by 70mph gales. 
VOCABULARY
1. A gale is a very strong wind. • A wildlife rescue centre has 
been inundated with animals during a spring of drought, 
gales and flooding.
2. mph is an abbreviation for miles per hour. 70mph is the
equivalent of 112.65 kilometres per hour.
3. If a place is battered by wind, rain, or storms, it is seriously
damaged and affected by very bad weather.
